City of Tukwila offering discounted locking mailboxes to residents

On Friday, April 5, the City of Tukwila announced that it will be offering discounted locking mailboxes to residents at cost – just $108.

The city said this new crime prevention program has been in the works for some time.

“In an effort to help reduce mail theft, we have purchased high-security mailboxes at a steep discount of $108 to provide at cost, to interested Tukwila residents who do not have cluster/shared style mailboxes in their neighborhood,” the city said. “There is also a program available to assist low-income residents who could not otherwise afford the $108 cost of the mailbox.”

If your current mailbox is on public right of way, you can also have the option to have it installed by the City of Tukwila Public Works.

If you have a drill or want to do it yourself, installation takes about 15 minutes.

Because this program is only open to Tukwila residents, there is an application. You can fill it out online here:

Once your application is approved, Community Policing Coordinator Chris Partman will contact you for payment and pickup arrangements.

“Please pass this information on to any Tukwila residents who you think might be interested.”
