Possible agreement reached between Tukwila School District & union

Looks like there may be a possible agreement between the Tukwila School District and Tukwila Education Association, which would end the current strike, both the district and union announced Friday, Sept. 7.

“There has been a possible agreement reached between Tukwila School District and their employees,” the district said. “The association will be holding a meeting Saturday night at the Foster High School Performing Arts Center to have a vote on the agreement.”

That meeting – and vote on the agreement – will take place at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Foster High School PAC.

The Tukwila Schools Board of Directors will then have to approve the agreement and after that, details will be worked out to discuss the beginning of the school year.

“Our negotiation team worked around the clock over the past few days and even an immeasurable amount of days and hours before that making sure we were going to have a workable plan that will benefit our students, and the District as a whole.” said Rhonda Lee, Communications Officer for the Tukwila School District.

Once ratified, the details of the agreement will be released.

“We will notify families of the details surrounding the start of the school year later this weekend.”
