FBI honors Tukwila’s Katrina Dohn with Director’s Community Leadership Award

The FBI Seattle Field Office this week selected Tukwila leader Katrina Dohn for its 2017 Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA).

Every year, each FBI field office honors a person who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to his or her local community through service. On Jan. 22, 2018, in a ceremony at the FBI’s building in Seattle, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Jay S. Tabb, Jr., congratulated Ms. Dohn. In April 2018, FBI Director Christopher Wray will present Ms. Dohn with the 2017 DCLA award in a ceremony at FBI Headquarters.

Ms. Dohn has served the Tukwila community for more than three decades through numerous organizations, many of which she founded. Her tireless work improves the lives of children—from facilitating the donation of clothing and toys for those in need, to providing positive adult mentors for middle school and high school youth—and their families, as well as the community as a whole.

On a daily basis, Ms. Dohn works for the Tukwila School District. The organizations she helps lead as a founder, board member, and/or officer include the Tukwila Children’s Foundation, Kids Without Borders, the Tukwila Children’s Clothing Bank, CARE Nights (Clothes are Really Expensive), Action Tukwila, Young Life. Ms. Dohn is also a homestay coordinator for the MeySen Academy that sends students from Sendaii, Japan, each summer to stay with American families. She also serves as a member of the Tukwila School District Strategic Plan Committee, the City of Tukwila Strategic Plan group, and the City of Tukwila Facilities Review Committee. In addition, Ms. Dohn provided a loving, structured home for children during 20 years as a licensed foster parent.

Ms. Dohn is a graduate of the FBI Seattle Field Office’s 2017 Citizens Academy and now serves on the Seattle Citizens Academy Alumni Association.

For those innumerable ways she positively impacts the communities in Washington State and beyond, the FBI honors Katrina Dohn with designation as Washington State’s 2017 DCLA recipient.
