The Wrong Direction for Tukwila.
I have long felt that Tukwila is a unique, small town with neighbors running for elected office who represent and advocate for our citizens. It is highly disturbing for me to see that super PACs and outside interests are funneling tens of thousands of dollars into our city’s mayoral election; specifically to promote Candidate Quinn. This is precedence setting. Why did this happen? Will it now only be possible to run for Tukwila elected offices if you have an annual wage, or more, set aside for campaigning? Will illegal activities, as evidenced in the latest mailer from a super PAC endorsing Quinn, become the norm in our little city?* I truly hope not, or Tukwila, as we know it, will become lost in a political chess match controlled by outsiders.
I am glad Candidate Ekberg has stood by his campaign promise to not accept donations from outside interests.
The issues matter. Voting records, experience and local advocacy matter. Campaign finances should not be a deciding factor in Tukwila.
