Volunteers Needed for Tukwila’s Cottage Creek Stream Cleanup Work Party August 20
Want to learn how to care for wetlands and streams? Want to know what invasive vegetation is and how to remove and prevent them from coming back? What are some good plants to put in wetland and buffers? On a budget? Learn tips and tricks on how to complete your own restoration project cheaply. The City’s Stream Team Program is meant to teach residents and property owners how to care for wetland and streams.
The Stream Team program has been hard at work in cleaning up Cottage Creek on the ground of City Hall. Everything in the Creek will eventually make its way to the Green River and ultimately the Puget Sound. Restoring Cottage Creek helps to restore the Green River and the Sound. This restoration project provides hands on training in working in a stream buffer.
With the majority of the invasive vegetation removed, we will now turn our attention to long term invasive vegetation control and prepping the site for plantings.
Upcoming Work Parties.
