Vintage Flight AttendantFor over 75 years, Flight Attendants – known as stewardesses or airline hostesses until the 1970s – have worked to make airplane passengers feel safe and comfortable.

Sometimes underestimated, often romanticized and always admired, flight attendants – almost exclusively female before the 1970s – have been the public face of air travel since the 1930s.

On Saturday, May 17, 2008, from 2pm to 3:30pm at the Museum of Flight, you can learn firsthand how this career has changed over the years directly from those who did it.

In conjunction with the Style in the Aisle exhibit the Museum will host a panel of flight attendants who did this glamorous and dangerous job during the golden age of commercial aviation.

The panel will be moderated by Museum Docent Kenlynn Gilbert, who flew with Pan Am and with United Airlines.

Program is Free with Museum Admission.
