Police LightsTUKWILA – A Tukwila policeman was involved in a crash early today when another vehicle hit him.

The collision happened just past 5 a.m. Friday in the 4400 block of Southcenter Boulevard, Tukwila police reported.

The officer, a K9 unit, was en route to a call, running with lights and sirens and passing an apartment complex when the other motorist pulled out into the street, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Curt Boyle.

Tukwila police wanted an independent agency to investigate and asked the Washington State Patrol to do so, Boyle said.

There were no injuries in the collision. The patrol vehicle’s tires were flattened by the impact and the front end of the other vehicle was badly damaged, Boyle said.

The driver told troopers he wasn’t paying attention and pulled out of his parking lot without noticing the oncoming police car.
