CandlelightTUKWILA – About 200 Seattle City Light customers in Tukwila will be without power until around 3pm Saturday while crews install a new pole at Southcenter Boulevard and 42nd Avenue South, said City Light spokesman Scott Thomsen.

Crews were moving power lines just after 9 p.m. Friday in connection with the Sound Tranisit light rail project when they came across a pole that had rotted.

It collapsed and pulled down three transformers, each filled with 25 to 30 gallons of mineral oil that spilled in the street and flowed toward the storm drains.

Additional crews from City Light and the hazardous materials team from Tukwila Fire Department responded to clean up the mess. At one point, 400 customers were without power.
